As the winter chill sets in and motivation dips for many, married couple and Belmont members Normira and Thili are proof that you can turn around your fitness whenever you decide, and leaning on close friends or spouses is a great way to keep up your motivation to reach your fitness and health goals.
A Routine That Works
Nomira and Thili train five times a week early in the mornings, and while they keep each other motivated and work together to achieve fitness goals, they do train separately at the gym, catering to specific plans and programs for their own fitness.
Milestones and Motivation
Before Normira found the gym, they struggled to destress and find ways to stay active. Normira used this struggle as motivation to get up and join the gym in search for confidence.
“I lost a lot of confidence within myself and decided i needed to do something about it which is where I found the gym”
Thili has been training their whole life, and when they moved to Australia two years ago, they started looking for a gym, to support their fitness needs. For Thili, it was the large variety of classes that really solidified the choice to join Belmont Oasis.
“I was most excited about having the classes as something I can do because I love having balance between group fitness and individual training”
Their biggest fitness achievement that they have noticed since joining Belmont Oasis has been able to physically see the change and progress which gives them an extra push of motivation to keep going and see what else they can achieve.
Normira and Thiri’s advice for staying consistent
Normira and Thiri have experienced different stages of fitness journeys and believe in patience being the most important aspect when it comes to achieving your goals both in and outside of the gym.
- Change takes time: Take it slow and avoid burning yourself out.
- Find a routine that works for you and stick to it: Follow a program and wake up at specific times to keep you motivated and committed to your routine.
- Be realistic: No matter what you do, make sure your routine is realistic for you to be consistent and stay on track with.
How to beat the winter blues
Normira and Thiri believe that relying on each other is the best way to support themselves during winter months when motivation is low. They use their relationship to push each other to stay on the right track and keep up with the gym and their training.

Thank you, Normira and Thiri for sharing your stories and being such a valued part of the Belmont Oasis community!
